By the main component and cluster analysis of the properties, the relative contents, crystallinity ete of clay minerals in beach soils and their parent materials, the parent materials of the soils were divided into three types, i.e., the deposits of Yellow River, Yanshu River and Yishu River. The results obtained well consisted with the geographical locations of the soil samples, which indicates that under the premises of correct analytic figures, proper selected properties and right grouping statistics, cluster analysis of the contents and characters of clay minerals is practicable for classification of clay minerals in soil.
