Abstract:Owing to the periodically dry and wet climate in the year,the moisture status of the surface 30 cm.of the Shajiang dark soil occurring in districts north of Huai river is variable.The soil has a water table varying from 110 to 190 cm.throughout the year,and a rather constant moisture content in 30-100 cm layer.

Abstract:According to the results obtained from field experiments laid on phosphatic fertilizer and from the fractionation of soil phosphorus,the writers classified the important soil types of Kiangsu Province into three groups:(1) Soils rich in phosphatic nutrients gave no response to superphosphate by all crops.Soils of this type include neutral grey-brown loamy clay derived from Hsiashu loam of Nanking district,calcareous sandy loam derived from alluvial deposits of lower Yangtze plain and neutral clayly paddy soil from lacustsine deposits of Su-Chou district.

Abstract:The present article deals with a description about the micromorphological features on the soil fabric of the paddy soils (known as Baity or white soil).They occur in areas of Hefei,Anhwei province.The study of 3μ thin-sections of undisturbed soil horizon indicated that the classification of the fabric of the soil according to its arrangement of the mineral grains and the matrix may be in general divided into two parts,e.i.,aggregative and reparative.However,it was found that the strongly and continuously arranged particle-chains (0.7-0.9μ) were the basic structure of the fabric.Microchemical investigations also showed that the downward movement of clay is associated with the eluviation of the.iron materials in the upper part of soil profile.
