About 180 thin sections of various types of paddy soil were examined using a polarizing microscope, and the relationship between the micromorphological features snd the fertility characteristics of soil was studied. Based on the data obtained micro-morphological featnrea are auggeated as the diagnostic criteria for paddy soils.
